Early Evening on the Boise River

Generally three to five evenings a week, my husband and I try to walk on the Boise River Greenbelt near our home. It’s a 10-minute walk from our house and about a 30-minute stroll from our entrance to the endpoint and back, with doggie sniff and you-know-what breaks… so about a 50-minute walk all told.

During the summer, it’s easy to get these walks in, but as the days get shorter, it gets harder and harder. This week, though, my hubby realized our relationship was a bit out of balance and he’s made a point to be home in time to walk. It’s the best part of the day, to be close to nature and all her beauty, in the company of our cute dogs and just the two of us chatting about our days, work, family, dreams and, well… life.

Here is the view from our favorite stop on this walk, Martini Beach:

A Walk on the Boise River – Daily Photo

One our our greatest pleasures is our evening walks along the Boise River, which is only a 10-minute walk from our house. The walk takes about 50 minutes and this beach is our frequent stopping spot to give the dogs a chance to get a drink and allow our lab to take a quick swim. Also a good place to see ducks and geese.

We call this stone beach “Martini Beach” because just above it is a backyard of a home where they’ve set up a bench and stump end table and the people who live there are often sitting out there drinking martinis. They’ve got the life!

And that’s my best friend in this picture!

365 Day Photo Challenge – Day 1

My daughter (of the afore-mentioned post) got me involved in a 365 day photo challenge that has you taking a new photograph daily for a whole year. I’m already doing it on my Boston terrier blog, but now that I’ve started this blog, I thought I’d do a more personal, more varied photo project here. I think it’ll be fun!

So, here is my first photo…

Boise River, Along the Greenbelt

Boise River, Along the Greenbelt

One of the things we love most about living in Boise is the 25-mile long Greenbelt. Lots of cities these days have some sort of Greenbelt path, but I doubt many of them are this long or this beautiful. The river and the Greenbelt connect communities and at least 6 large parks. We went for a 15-mile or so bike ride along the river yesterday, so this pic is actually taken yesterday, but I just uploaded it from the camera today.
